How It Works

land line replacement

POTS stands for Plain Old Telephone Service. It is entirely analog and uses twisted-pair copper cabling to connect all equipment. This aging technology still supports critical analog systems within many organizations such as security alarms, fire alarms, fax machines, voice lines, POS terminals, and more.

If you have these kinds of critical analog systems in your organization, a few steps need to be taken to ensure they will still be able to connect once POTS lines are no longer available.

1.) Any existing analog infrastructure within your organization will need an intermediate device such as an Analog VoIP Gateway or Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) to serve as a bridge to Voice over IP (VoIP) service.

2.) Reliable Internet service will be necessary to connect devices supplying VoIP services. Secondary backup Internet service may be important as well if high uptime is desired.

3.) Any phone numbers previously tied to POTS lines will need to be moved to a VoIP service provider.

Our POTS replacement services can help in a variety of scenarios, including connections over Ethernet, WiFi, or cellular data. We can also provide redundant hardware and networking for emergency devices that require high uptime.

Our Team is ready to offer consultation as you think through this. Kindly reach out through our Contact Form if you have any questions.
